Looking for beautiful Breeds

Maybe you could get something like a Minorca, Andalusian, Ancona, Mottled Houdan, or even a Brown Leghorn?? It would be different and more interesting than the typical White Leghorn yet still a good layer and heat tolerant.

Also there are a lot of different color varieties in even the more common breeds like Orpingtons, Rocks, Australorps, etc. so you can get some very pretty birds even within those breeds.

I also have found my Easter Eggers to be absolutely stunning and great variety in terms of looks and egg color, etc. I’ve had 3. They are also very friendly and both heat and cold tolerant. They also lay well. I have some that are 5 years old and still laying well.

I also have a Partridge Rock which is pretty and I thought my Barred Rock was gorgeous as well but I was biased 😂 they are common but stunning.

Wyandottes might work?? Might be a bit too heavy though.

I find my Delaware to be very pretty but might be too plain?

I also have a Speckled Sussex who, IMO, is just absolutely gorgeous. :love very friendly and heat and cold tolerant too.

Brabanters are another excellent breed. Heat and cold tolerant and good layers and mine are gorgeous IMO. I have 2 cream and 2 gold.

I also have some bantam Birchen Cochins that are stunning and I believe Marina come in birchen too. Even plain Marans might be a good option.

Sorry for the novel :lau

Alright. Thanks for all the ideas.

I already have Sumatras, a Cochin and some mixes from her, phoenixes and will be getting silkies next spring.

I love, love. Love modern game looks, but I wasn't aware they're considered delicate. Not a fan of laced birds either usually, but buff laced are a guilty pleasure.

Hamburgs! Can't forget hamburgs. I adore them! And they make some gorgeous crosses. My hamburg x cochin is the fluffiest spottiest softest little lap chicken! :clap

Dang cold tolerance and broodiness rules out all the Mediterranean, fanciness rules out all the Americans and English, broodiness and heat tolerance rules out most Continental and heat tolerance rules out all Asiatics, along with their size which would make hatching harder.
Cubalayas and Yokahomas meet the criteria though. They are heat and cold tolerant and broody, as well as interesting. I would get them.

My cuckoo Marans and gold laced wyandottes suffer whenever they temperature here gets above 85. Fortunately, that’s rare here. My Easter eggers, barred rocks and buff Orpingtons seem to do fine.
for a beautiful bird that lays well and does well in the heat, I’d say Blue Andalusian.

I no longer have this bird because I had too many roosters. I hear he’s doing well with his new flock, and his new owner is hoping to breed some next year. 🤞🤞
