Thank you! I was reading a little about lavender orpingtons and other Lavender birds, would my little pullet be more classified as a lavender instead of a blue because she is so silvery blue/silvery grey? I hadn't heard of lavender birds until I got on here.Beautiful
Blue and Lav genes are two different things. They behave differently, it's not about what the color looks like it's what the gene does. A Blue bird without lacing and light grey in color is not a lavender bird. It's just a poorly colored Blue. Lavender over Lavender begets Lavender. Blue over Blue begets black, blue and splash. Blue should be laced, lavender is not. But again, if a blue bird is without lacing it doesn't make it lavender as they are completely different genes- it's just a poor example of blue.
They are cute little chicks. look forward to seeing how they feather out color wise. I am still learning all the initials on the breeds, so what is a CL? Thanks.I have barred EEs, but the mix is a little different. I have a CL cockerel over cuckoo maran hens. I've got 3 just hatched and are pretty neat.
2 are a silvery black, I see barring coming in on wing and tail feathers. The third and smaller bird is jet black and so far feathers are black but I suspect will be barred.
Here are pics.

I've also got a couple of ameraucana X Cream Legbar crosses, and buff Orpington X cream legbar crosses.
Mama Ameraucana is a brown/gold.
Below are a few pics of dad legbar rooster and one of the mama cuckoos. The chicks all look like they're going to be barred or crele, although in which shades I do not know.
I'll try to post some pics tomorrow (well, later today I guess) (darn insomnia). The orp and ameraucana chicks are about 4-5 weeks old now.
