Looks Like I'm Getting a Goose!

I've just realized I have a dilemma. Because her gosling friend died, she has no friends. She seems fine with this at the moment, and I'm cuddling her and such, but it's not good for her. To top it off I have to go on vacation next week and she WAS just going to stay home with her friend. I have a friend who's coming over to care of the poultry and he'd have been looking after her for me. Now, she might have to come WITH me because I'm hesitant to leave her alone for a whole week. And because I'm going on vacation next week, I can't have them ship me another gosling for her. I'm really very frustrated right now. If the post office had just paid attention, I'm certain the other gosling would have survived. Anyway, what's the best solution here? Take her with me (very doable, but potentially stressful for her) or put her in with the chicks, which she will be WAY bigger than and may inadvertently injure? Or just leave her alone (my least favorite option)?
Your least favorite is mine too you'd probably find her dead when you got back, not from neglect but from loneliness, give her a stuffed animal till you can get her another goose friend, but she isn't going to be very happy when not with you since she will be alone, putting her with the chicks I am not sure of they mature so much faster than the gosling and even though they are smaller could pick on her pretty bad. Vacation that important that you can't spend it at home getting your baby another goose through the mail and making sure everything is A okay there first? I'm sorry this has happened but that gosling will pine it self to death all alone for a week. Taking it with you would be your second option before the first for me would be getting it another goosey friend.

Yeah, this is the only week all year I can take off and I'm going to see my grandparents down South. They have failing health and this might be the last time I see one or both of them :(

I'm looking around on my local craigslist like crazy to see if anyone is selling some goslings or at the very least ducklings, which I figure are better than nothing. She's definitely not staying along for the week - she'll come with me if I can't find a suitable friend for her.

Well, she has a diaper that I had left over from when I had an injured duckling in the house all the time, so at least she's not pooping on everything

Hope you get thing resolved for the gosling before you leave on vacation. Lonely gosling do not thrive as well as ones with other goslings. But being with you momma will help if you have to take he/her along. Just take plenty of diaper changes along!!!!!

Well, I was unable to get her a friend, so I compromised and instead of taking her with us, I had my grandparents babysit. My grandmother fell completely in love and she was spoiled rotten while I was away. I don't think she spent a day in her cage  She got SO big while I was gone. I'll have to order her some new diapers. By the end of the week, she'll move in with the chicks in the garage. She's bigger than all of them now so I don't think I'll have to worry about the older ones picking on her. I'll take some good pictures of her later and put them up for you all.

And, as a side question, can she eat the cat grass stuff you can grow for cats? We still have no grass here and she's uninterested in lettuce, so I'm trying to think of other things she could have.

Glad you had a baby sitter, thats cute about your grandmother. now the cat grass is it just reg. grass, wheat grass ? I'd think she could eat it as long as she has grit too.

Yep, it's supposed to be oat or wheat grass. I just didn't want to give it to her without checking first.
