Two coons with one stone WOW!!!!, I have been trapping them all yr long and have never caught 2 at once, cool good job. No comment on disposal, do what you think is best for you.

But Wifezillaaaaaaa (you are going to have to imagine the whine yourself)-

I understand she is going to train the dog (1 dog - a single GSD) on dead coons to go after live coons. She wants to train the dog to attack and kill live coons around her chickens. And I actually have no objection to it EXCEPT-

1 GSD could take on a young, inexperienced coon and kill it with only a little damage to herself.

1 GSD could try to take on a 20 lb boar coon and get her little doggy face, ears and eyes shredded. I'm not even going to go into a momma coon with kits! Not worth the risk. I would never send any of my dogs after a coon.

Her dog will get hold of a big coon one of these days, get shredded, and avoid coons for the rest of its life!

Coonhounds usually hunt in at least packs of three.

Trap them and drown them.

There has to be a better way than drowning them..... I would be super scared if someone tried to drown me!!!! They don't understand they can't eat our animals they are just doing what their instincts tell them to. Someone on BYC once said if a raccoon gets their chicken, they don't blame the coon, they did not build a good coop, I agree with that.

I agree -- drag it by the cord to the canal, end it. Also works for skunks as well. No mercy, they reproduce like rats. Just my two cents.

Ladies and gentlemen, as much as some of us dislike drowning, it is very much part of predator control. It is a safe method to dispatch a wild animal.

Everytime someone mentions drowning, we get into this discussion about whether drowning is humane or not. I guess I'm just trying to point out that this discusson is beating a dead horse... or coon.

If a gunshot was not an option, I too would opt for drowning. People and their safety come first, ALWAYS! As long as the drowning doesn't turn into a torture session, where the animal is dunked repeatedly, then these threads shouldn't turn into this debate, every single time.

Please people,dont post a comment if you dont like this if you really hate it you would probably just go on to another thread or somthing.The OP can do whatever they like to it.Drowning a coon isnt really that bad,sure they will be scared but your chickens were when they were eating them.Please dont just post what you think if you havent had a chicken get mauled up from a coon.When they drown they are very scared but thats about it ,the first inhalaition of the water will make them get sleepy so they really dont feel any pain.Ohh and sorry for your father WalkingWolf
