loom knitting

I am thrilled to see someone else made the hat with the ear flaps! My son has requested one so I am hoping before next christmas to figure out the pattern and make one for him and his girlfriend. What is the favorite yarn weight for the long loom to make blankets? Did you do chunky or worsted?

My kids and I loom knit. We make baby hats to donate to hospitals and this year I started making scarves for some of the homeless in our area and for the Red Scarf Project.

My daughter made a hat for her little brother last year, and I recently made this fun one pictured for my little bugger. I have all of the oval and round Knifty Knitters as well as some looms from Decor Accents.

I have made it two ways...
one by splitting my yarn and starting on 2 pegs on each side of the loom and increasing...

OR the total cheater method...
Make the flaps separate using 6 or 7 pegs and sewing them on afterward

My favorite is the former because it's already attached as you continue the work and there is no need to go back and line everything up. It's really a matter of preference and both ways work just fine. Some people work top down and simply decrease for the flaps at the end of the piece.

I read through the instructions and it's the increase/decrease that trip me up

I get the round knitting on the loom but I am going to have to sit down and just tinker until I get the knack of the ear flaps. I just loved the picture of of the floppy hat with tassels, the colors are great and it reallly looks fun.

I just purchased my first loom a week and a half ago. I am addicted to loom knitting

. I too have a hard time with knitting and crocheting, but the loom I can do. I have made 4 scarves, and one wrap so far. I am hoping to soon buy some more looms and a year supply of bulky yarn

I've got the round looms the long looms and bought the S loom. But that darn S loom is just to hard to use. If anyone has one and knows the trick to it let me in on the secret!!!
