Looney tunes

I'm not really sure what's happening my hen paves back and forth all day.
She wants out to free range.. is bored,, or possibly having pecking order disputes she's trying to get away from.

I personally HATE that behavior. It's quite stressful.

Most commonly seen (by me) in birds that were previously free range but no longer are.

How big is your coop and run.. for how many birds total? How old are you birds? What enrichment do they have?

Yes, she might be a little looney tunes.. more than that too intelligent to be confined to a boring box all day and it's making her looney tunes! ;)

Mine do that too, while they're confined to their run until they lay an egg (I let them out in late afternoon if they haven't laid yet). They're just mad. No matter what I put in their pen they still want to be out with the rest of the crowd.

She's never been free ranged the guy we got her from had them in this coop. I met them out every day for multiple hours. They've only been here 5 days so I'm afraid to free range them yet

After five days, they should know where home is. Perhaps start letting them out an hour or two before sunset and supervise.
