Any idea how long the virus can remain dormant on clothes or shoes? My in-laws live in LA; could they bring the disease with them when they come visit? How likely could that be?

It depends if they are near farms or anyone with chickens or have chickens themselves. If so, have them leave their shoes outside or spray the bottoms of the shoes with Lysol. Don’t let them handle your chickens or go near the chickens living quarters. If they drive through dirt roads that are livestock farms they need to wash their tires when they arrive or park away from anywhere you would walk and possibly contaminate your shoes.

Good luck to all of you out there and nearby there. I hate that it has gotten to this point. I understand it will be painful, but eradicating the disease in the area is absolutely necessary. My heart goes out to anyone that has to lose their pets/flocks.

I’m in so cal the cities surrounding mine have this we haven’t been quarantined luckily. I was told at a feed store it started in lake Elsinore which is where my parents live so only about 25 minutes away.
