In this case, not just corporate profit. There isn't much point in growing oranges in Florida any more because of the greening for which there is no cure despite tens of millions being spent. And if this disease is allowed to become endemic, there won't be much point in having BYC because it will become too much trouble or be too expensive, etc.

And another pleasure of life will be gone.
