What evidence do you have for that claim? Is it too much trouble and too expensive in areas of the world where it is endemic?

I saw that. Virulent doesn't mean fatal, it just means "causes disease symptoms". For example, flu is virulent, but it rarely causes death.

A virulent virus causes symptomatic or severe disease, while temperate, or non-virulent, viruses rarely cause any disease symptoms at all.

I want to say it originated in Belize. But Mexico has the Belize strain, and it came in through the border (obviously).
