I believe all that human pee and human hair clippings and human scent is hogwash. Sure it may work by chance from time to time but it is not what I would call a proven means of protection. Free range while you can keep watchful eye and kill the fox is your best bet. Fox aren't the easiest thing to trap either, shooting them is foolproof.
That's simply not true.
I've had them walk up on my deck and eat cat food with me sitting inside less than 10 feet away
I agree with both of these posters. I snare fox every winter. On more than one occassion I have seen in the snow where a dog fox has gone and urinated in the same place that I have urinated. Most fox in my area are so habituated to human scent that it is no deterrent whatsoever. If there is any depth of snow they even run the path that I create on my daily checks - makes for easy snaring.
