I am afraid I Know the answer but am hoping I don't..

One of our dogs (a "guard" dog--err, puppy..) got a hold of one of our 4-month-old chicks.. Other than the fact that her crop is pretty much gone, she's otherwise unscathed.. We have her separated from everyone else now and she's walking around, drinking water, seems fine.. But obviously, there's a problem!!

Can they live without their crops? Could I just smush her food up for her and feed her any special way? I don't want to put her down if I don't have to:(

Thanks ya'll...

Can you post a picture of the wound?

Chickens are pretty resilient. They can generally repair themselves from incredibly horrible wounds.

I will try to get a good picture tonight--It's a surprisingly clean wound.. I might not even have noticed it had I not found her lying on the ground, trembling.
That is really reassuring--I hate to see anything suffer, but she obviously isn't ready to go!!
