So today we found this pigeon. And he’s been drinking our dogs water and eating our chickens and ducks food. We got him some food and water and he’s been eating and drinking that and he was made a little nest by my younger brother. He has a band on each feet a purple one and a blue one. What should we do?

You are doing the right thing by providing food and water. Because of the bands I believe this is a racing homer who has stopped for rest and refreshments on its way home. Hard to know why. Most likely it will be on its way after a few days. If you catch/trap it you can read the letters and numbers on the band and locate its owner.

If you don't mind me asking, what state are you in?

It is Young Bird season now, so most pigeon races are happening on Saturday so he probably didn't make it back from the race. :(

The owner may or may not want him back. would you be interested in keeping him? It is a very rewarding hobby!

Yes, I keep them outside, in a coop. Doesn't have to be elaborate. are you contacting the club\owner? Please do, many fanciers miss their birds when they are gone.

If you want to keep it, I would recommend starting a thread asking some general questions. I will offer any help I have, but many more people will to if you start a thread. :)

Is there anyway to keep him in a chicken coop with chickens and ducks or is there anyway to let him free range? How do we catch him to Check his tags? And we are open to keeping him he’s very pretty and he doesn’t seem shy
