Lost power, chicks on heat.

I had the power go out once when the eggs in the incubator had a week to go.
I wrapped them in a towel and cuddled up to them in my water bed overnight. (The water bed would hold heat for a day) the next morning the power came back on. the chickes hatched and seamed uneffected by the interuption. (I dident sleep at all for wory of rolling over on them tho)
Can you heat water? Maybe you have a wood stove or grill. My kitchen stove is an 1950's model gas stove that does not plug in and is not dependent on the power grid.
Im thinking about heating water and using acouple old water bladers. How many eggs are we talking about?
Hope the power is not off for long.
I am wishing you all the luck!

What timing! I’ve been reading forums as I troubleshoot my incubator, and recently read an account of someone who lost power, wrapped the incubator in a blanket, and just left it until the power came back on, which took awhile. Even though temps were low, they still claimed a decent hatch. Agree that hand warmers should go to chicks... Best of luck!!!:fl
Great idea, hand warmers/hot water, then wrap with blanket, power often comes back in only a couple of hours. Prescott here, we have a lot of outages from monsoon storms. Best wishes.

19 eggs. I can wrap the incubator. Eggs are on day 3, so major temp swings are not ideal.

Chicks got handwarmers and I forced them in the middle of the huddle of bigger chicks. Garage temp is around 78 on its own right now.

I had to run out in the storm and lightning to herd my ESCAPED outdoor flock back in. Suckers should've never been outside. They're fine now.

I think the littles will be okay. Between the handwarmer and 4 older warm bodies, I think they'll make it.

Just checked and an older chick is playing broody. We're good. And of course it's the male

To be exact, the chicks are laying on top of the handwarmer, under the cockerel.
Awww, sweet! I had older silkie chicks with younger, and all the little ones wanted to huddle under the silkies, so stinkin’ cute!:love Your flock is so lucky that you are willing to run out and save them!!!
