Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

Looks like a lady from what I can make out of her saddle feathers.. Is it a loud bawk awk awking just general chatting.. or has she actually crowed?

The loud chatting is usually a sign they're getting close to lay. Each are individual and one of my ladies used to preach a sermon at the very top of her lungs until everyone was ignoring her and then quickly disappear to lay her egg in private. One of my ladies was so loud before going to lay my husband panicked when he thought something was attacking the goats how crazy it sounded!

At 22 weeks this picture here shows exactly what you should be seeing on her saddle.. She's just a loud mouth pullet!

ETA.. not exactly because the color is different, I was referring to shape.

If she’s been chickenwauling (that’s what I call it here, like a WA-WA-WA-WAA-AAA-AAAAAAAA! Or doing the chicken distress call (some people call it the ‘egg-laying song‘ (but roosters make this sound, too - the Bock-Bock-Buh-GAWK noise) then for sure getting close to laying). Also, her age suggests she‘s ready to lay and she definitely looks like a pullet, so I think you’re safe :wee.
