"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I've had hay in their nest boxes for two weeks now. You know what the little deviants do? Pick through it and use it as their toilet.

I changed it twice before saying to heck with it, but now that they are laying I switched the hay out and, lo and behold, they've left it alone!

I think that should be fine for the bunnies. As long as there isn't a draft and it isn't snowing or anything of the like, I think they will be fine. :) They've got their lovely coats to keep them warm.

My aunt used to cut lil pyramids of soap out of her favorites and put the lil piece in a satchet like wedding almonds come in and set them in her dresser drawers for the yummy smell lol. Not scratch and sniff but sorta like a sample? A soap chip card? Lol hmmmm

Imma have to order some now, your reviews are making me drool! How long is your wait list? We're gonna work you through winter!

Its funny that this scratch & sniff/sample topic has come up.......because this morning when I was cutting a loaf of soap that I call "Lavender Abyss" I was telling the hubby (that was hovering, watching my fun) that I was thinking of cutting slivers off of the end pieces as samples to go into orders. We are working on a few things to make even more improvements.....mostly for my cutting ability (or lack there of). We are going to make a REALLY precise cutter for the big loaves. I love it when they are lined up and they are all super straight and all the same size.

It makes my OCD happy!!!

I would love to have a cutter made by Bud Haffner(he has a shop on etsy).......but those are pricey! I am sure between my hubby and I though we can do this!!! Hubby used to work for a really good carpenter in his younger years.

I have spent so much time in the kitchen today! Another "Vat O' Pumpkin Butter" is ready to be put into bags and vac sealed. Also made some pumpkin soup and a yummy dinner. Its much nicer working inside on days like today. Miserable weather out there!

Todays pumpkin was another 13 quarts of pumpkin puree!!! Only 3 pumpkins left....only 3 pumpkins left.......only 3 pumpkins left!

The chickens have been enjoying the pumpkins too! Nice looking yolks these days. And still getting a nice amount of eggs because we are putting the light on for an extra couple of hrs at dusk.

This is the bantam I couldn't leave behind she was the one lone chick so she came home with the other two. Only thing is I don't know what breed she is. I'll keep posting as she grows till someone can name the breed.

Looks like my broody, but still too young to tell for sure. Does it have a pea comb?

Obviously bad weather doesn't stop hungry raccoons from looking for a meal. I just lost 2 of my roosters - The "Picture of the Week" serama rooster Sal and my Japanese bantam boy Boss. From what I can gather the d*** thing opened two of the pens and the roosters sacrificed themselves so the girls could escape. They didn't stand a chance.

The girls are okay. They were scared but unharmed. I'm so freaking upset right now. Here Sal was, enjoying his spot in the limelight and some nasty vermin has to go and kill my boy. Guess I'm buying padlocks tomorrow. That coon is dead but I don't want its cousins taking anyone else from me.

Sorry for your loss, they were beautiful birds. Something to think about: When I had coons coming into the yard and messing with the animals I decided to shoot one and place it on the property line in the direction they were coming from. I left it there for three days so it's friends would know their fate. I have not had one here since, however my neighbors do get them on occasion.
