It will get easier as they learn where they are supposed to roost. They are fine without food and water overnight, but I'd try to have water available in the morning.

I rigged the original part to not sag (yarn fixes everything!) so now I'm just going to somehow work on that top part. I'm glad I didn't let him make those slits. I'm thinking of just buying another lid from tractor supply. I saw one that is a roof with a point. I can just put it right on top of the other one. That way they will stay dry, have shade, and still won't be able to fly out! http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/kennel-roof--cover-kit-10-ft-x-10-ft?cm_vc=-10005 I feel like spending the extra money would make for less headache later. Might have to use the credit card so that he doesn't notice the cost as quickly and fuss me for spending MORE money on the chickens!
I didn't put their food or water in there. Should I have?
I was doing some reading this afternoon and happened on this.
I was like, WHaaaaaaat???!!!!! I am going to have to get some of that.

Chickens have a lot of benefits, but they are by no means the neatest of barnyard animals. In fact their coops, hen houses and pens can get really stinky. Sweet PDZ is the answer to your smelly, dropping filled coops. Sprinkle Sweet PDZ liberally where the birds make their mess. Reapply regularly on the most frequently used roosting areas, and you’ll be well on your way to a healthy, safe and pleasant smelling chicken house. Sweet PDZ also makes it much easier to remove the droppings when cleaning out the chicken’s house. As an added benefit Granular Sweet PDZ can be safely eaten by the birds and used by them to grind their food. Clean smelling chickens = healthy chickens.
I saw that this week and I love it. My is shaped so weird 7.5' x 12' that I just put tin across the top. Works for me.e
But first of all, where in the world have you people been. I've been out of pocket and I notice that nobody has posted today at all. Guilty I am also but geez.
Pam, I love you. Got the turmeric today and got it planted. That's so sweet of you to send me a salve for my knees and a great soap too. I've heard that you do good stuff. Got it on my knees now.

You guys do NOT want to know what deep dark hole I had to dig in to get that sucker out. The poor horse has been sick for weeks. Hopefully things can resolve themselves now.
I got more chickens today!!!

They're a few years old and have been on cement, so they need some TLC. Luckily I'm just the gal for them. They're on hay now, so they should heal just fine.
