"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Bantams

All of the Cochins and the Sizzle (cochin-silkie) hens that we have have proven to be wonderful little brooding mamas. Some of those eggs are going into the incubator and we will most likely be selling most of the ones that hatch. Very sweet.
Maybe we could talk about some eggs in the spring.

Hey Rodney,     :welcome     I had no idea there was still baby chicks around at this time of the year.  Shreveport doesn't have them.
Okay, folks, I ate my first Cobb 500 egg today.  Tastes just like the grocery store.    :lau    Give me a few days and let the fermented feed get to them and then we'll be cooking.  The size is extra large and so healthy.  I'm going to make it better.

Yay! Are you going to breed them? Let me know how it goes, I'm definitely interested in getting some next time. How much were they?

Here's the olive egger. Tomorrow I'll post new ones this in a month or so old. This is legbar hen x with BCMaren rooster. I wonder if you had BCM hen over CCL rooster if you get the same look and color eggs. Pam

She sent me 24 eggs (I had asked for 18) - not one broken! Large to Extra-large. I have the 'bator fired up & here we go! They completely filled up my little 'bator! They were clean, too. The markings on them are the dates they were laid & breed. I am so happy to see my bator rocking away in the foyer!

I think so. I had an olive-egger that was a Cuckoo Marans hen crossed with a Wheaton Ameracauna rooster. Really nice color - you could put a red dot on one end & it looked just like a big 'ol olive (Jim did that once).

I'm looking forward to having them back in my laying flock. They were some good birds. Edited to add: These are not "true" heritage RIRs, they come from production stock 50 years ago, but they are nice birds & good layers of big brown eggs.

Terri, I blame you for getting me hooked on these dark eggs:lol: I just love these Cuckoo Marans girls from you....... Even if they don't love me back. Haha! They will eat from my hand, but are not snuggly for sure. They make up for it with their big fluffy butts and beautiful eggs. :love

Your eggs look great!

Our eggs were packaged like ft Knox!

I never had any Cuckoo Marans who were "snuggly" but yes, they look nice & lay nice eggs!

Mine were packaged the same way as yours, right down to the tape on the bubblewrap. I saved the packing peanuts to use in the bottom of my flowerpots next spring.
