Cute!!![]()
We have 22 new cuties so far. I can't believe every one of the bantam eggs that went into lockdown hatched. The last one was a little sticky, but it made it out on its own. There are still most of the Marans eggs in the incubator. Who knows how many more will make it out. I did see one rocking and peeping.

I was told from a breeder that marens don't need any humidty added none even if it goes below 30%. Thats pretty unlikiy here with all the rain.
I wish you could have roos I have 2 extra from really dark eggs and a top breeders line. Pam
Your right about the humidity. I did a completely dry hatch. It even went a bit under 30% when we had a few days without rain. But in addition to that I noticed something else. This time I did not rotate egg positions in the incubator. The Marans eggs that were directly under the fan had a nice air cell size at lock down. Looked great for having a good hatch. The ones on the far side away from the fan had a smaller air cell. I did not expect those with the smaller air cell to hatch. But this morning I woke to another Marans egg hatched as well as the last EE egg was unzipped and about to pop open. Since I did set those Marans eggs a day late I will just leave them and see what happens today. I've heard of hatches with these kind as late as day 25. That seems crazy.
So now that we are up to 24 I better get some more done on that brooder!!!!!! The train yesterday didn't seem to bother the stain drying. It's under a canopy but still got splashed yesterday morning.
I got real busy and haven't been on for awhile, so I am playing catch up, we hatched 5 live Ameracaunas, 6 OEs,6 FBCMs and 5 Dominique's, this brings our spring hatching to an end, not sure when the next hatch will be doneWhat did you hatch out?
Dottie is a smart chicken, how have you been, long time, no see
