"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have 3 extra Cuckoo Marans cockerels, hatch date 4/20/15. Two of them just started crowing this week, so cute!!! I'm asking $12 each. If anyone would like one just let me know.

My five Black Copper Marans chicks are doing well. The two that I had to assist are requiring some extra attention though. It seems like one might have broken his toes while hatching? I taped his feet in the right position as soon as he dried from hatching, since they were very badly curled and he was walking on the backs of his legs. The taping has allowed him to use his feet correctly, but the toes haven't improved. They bend awkwardly at the joints. The other baby is slightly splay legged, and had pasty butt this morning.I soaked him and decided not to adjust his legs or feet. The splay is very slight, and only one of his toes on one foot isn't in the correct position. I'll wait and see how he progresses.

I'm so mad!!! I've been losing one chicken here and one there. Thought we had a racoon problem my neighbor tells Ron that she has two mommas and their babies in her attic. So I noticed last night 4 chickens missing. It happened during the bad storm so I thought they were in a tree and I'd see them this morning. Well go out no sign of them. I check the trap we caught someone's cat. So I'm outside cleaning food dishes etc. plus looking for signs of what happened to those birds. All of a sudden the whole flock starts sounding off alarms. I can here one screaming I run over and see a coyote it dropped the chicken when it saw me then turned grabbed it an ran. Now I have to stay outside to hopefully catch him or a least keep him from getting any more till I can get them all cooped up. I am right out of town in a residential area. I have 4 acres that aren't cleared. First time I've ever seen a coyote here. Pam

Coyotes are sneaky! Once they figure out they can get an easy meal from somewhere, they keep coming back. I'm sorry to hear you've been having so many problems. I live in the middle of town and still tried to predator proof my coop as much as possible. Predators are everywhere and anywhere and I didn't want to take any chances. When I lived elsewhere there wasn't much we could do about coyotes besides either catch them or shoot them. We tried leaving a radio on and they caught on after a while

I had let them out to free range. They won't be free ranging any more. My first experience with a coyote. It will be shot . Pam
