"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Nope, not since the raccoon. I dumped the body in "the boneyard" and it's just bones and fur now. Not even the stink is left. I'm still working on coop training, though. Every night I have to put about 8 girls back in the coop. No more tree sleepers, though. :D

My Easter babies all turn 5 mos next week, so I'm hoping for eggs before too much longer. I've never added lighting to the coop, but I'm getting tempted.

I'll put some pics!!

DH moved the camp tractor over to the yard. Introductions!

To train your flock you leave them cooped for 3 days. After the trird they should return on their own every night. Pam

My coop and run are too small. 10x10 run (minus 6x4 coop) for ~25 birds. They were all in this evening, so I threw down some scratch and closed the door. ;) With supper and homework and baths and bedtimes and time change it's hard to get out before they're roosting. I need to set an alarm.

I think you need a new coop. I've been cleaning mine I have way too many and will sell some.Pam

YES I DO. I've been lobbying for that second coop for a looooooong time. I've only got 7 in -my- flock, but the camp flock has almost 30. 10 are still in the tractor because I'm out of room. I asked DH what it would take for me to get the second coop. He said it had to not be 100 degrees. :lau

So hopefully we can start breaking ground soon. I've already drawn out the plans and saved up some pallets. :D

Well this nice weather should motivate him. Maybe you should draw up some plans for him. That way when He is willing you will be ready.Pam

Bator is up & running here & will set eggs tomorrow. When I gathered the one egg yesterday, I dropped it & cracked it so I opened it up & yes, it was fertile, so even though it's been a week since Wednesday that I lost my roo, the eggs from the remaining 4 hens are still fertile, so there's hope! I am really depressed about this but I think it's going to be OK. I did win a bid on Ebay for some Black Copper Marans eggs - 1 was broken but 5 made it intact, so they are going in as well. I have as of tonight, 9 eggs from my heritage RIR hens, the rest are from my black Ameracauna hen so they will be olive-eggers & 2 from my Cuckoo Marans hen. I will have a full bator. So here I go again.
