"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I lost a cockerel last night. Looked like he just fell off the roost and died. Wasn't a big deal cause his ticket was punched for the next culling but he wasn't fresh enough to eat after laying in the litter all night. I'm down to three Biele cockerels now. I'll bet the lowest man on the totem poll was happy this morning. :D

I bet he is. I have a feeling your going to wind up with one of my extra Roo's. Lmao! I wonder what he died from? I wonder if the azure truck comes here before Ruston? Pam

:hit our power jus went out when i transformer blew! Im so upset :hit its going to be out for Hours! I wrapped the bator in comfortors... Today is day 17

Try to calm down. Covering them was a great thing to do. I think you will be ok. My broodies would get off the eggs for an hour at a time. Just keep insulated noe if they don't hatch on hatch day don't panic. They may need an extra day to hatch.Just don't let anyone unwrap them hold that heat in. Pam

! My BO broody has 3 chicks, one she hatched this week. I gave 38 eggs to a local guy last weekend to set and I'm collecting more now for Turk to hatch. Gonna share in both hatches, what am I thinking!?!? Guess I need to put an addition on the coop I just finished this summer. Good thing DH is understanding. He's an

I ended up not processing the extra Roos. A lady in south Mississippi wanted them to put over her hens. She's keeping half and her son is taking half for his girls. With these two hatches I'm sure I'll be in the same boat again in the spring...arggg.

Happy clucking everyone!!

Anyone have opinions on the auctions in Sulphur, Dequincy, Kinder? or are there any others in the area of Calcasieu / Beauregard / Jeff Davis ? I just hatched off about 100 chicks and will be sending half of them in one direction or the other. Just wanted someone else's input or experience. I've been to Sulphur several times, they have only labeled the cages one time leaving people to guess at what was being sold. , that was the first Friday of October and the first day since the shut down a few months ago for the heat. Any one know how the others work? or how to find information on the auctions. I have a lot of cockerels and pullets to move, I don't want to waist my time selling them for a dollar each due to someone not knowing what breed they are, I am better off butchering them...

I wouldn't open it. the water bottles would still give heat from the bottom of yur bator. The instint you open it you lose more heat than you gain. Glad it's back on!!!!

I sell mine here an on the poultry for sale groups in La.on FB. Camping shaw does the auction so you could ask her. There are classified ads on BYC. I'm not a FB person I was never on it till I needed to sell my chickens. You get good prices most people in the group know what it takes to hatch and raise chickens so they don't try to low ball you.I don't like the auction for one reason Bioscurity. I've heard stories of people buying sick birds and bringing them home an contaminating there own flock. Pam
