"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Pam, that's great news the Barbs are laying. Yea, they are night and day compared to the Bieles' temperaments. They don't like to be handled at all. That is if I'm fast enough to grab one and then they scream and fuss and get the rest all riled up. I'd like to weigh and band soon. That will be real fun doing it by myself. Probably best approach will be to do it at night and take them off the roosts or try catching all of them over a few days time. If I could video I would.

Camping, I think I'll need a hood to go over their head to cover their eyes and something to lay them in while on the scales. This breed is fast and doesn't stand still for long.

Wish I could make them little jerseys, it will be a real chore to catch them just to see the numbers on the bands.

Just added these little ladies to the flock. How long should I wait til I let them roam freely with their new bunk mates ?

When you introduce them they should be in a pen where the others can see them without being able to access them for a few days. Let me back up all new chickens should be in quarenteen for 30 days to make sure they aren't sick and don't spread disease to your flock. Pam
