"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I had this same problem my place is not as big 5 acres and farmers and orange groves all around . I to carry a side arm but my husband said not to make a stink in the neighborhood as we are a small community so I went to harbor freaght and got a solar powered electric fence so far it's working out. I sat in my house by the window and watch them torture them selves for 2 hours the first day all with my scope and 17 right on them just in case.

You could also set a humane trap and haul them off to the pound. I would tell her that's where they are once she has to pay fines to get her dogs back she will find a way to keep them under control. Here it's $50 bucks to get your dog from the pound. Pam

Isn't it exciting? I want a broody so bad. But my hens aren't taking the bait (or rather golfballs) seriously

This is a Breese not known for being broody. With all the rain I left the eggs for three days first a light Sussex started with them . Then the Bresse and Sussex were both trying to brood them one would get off the other would jump on. One day they were both on them that was funny. Finnaly the breese won. I'm off to feed and check them out. I'll take a pic if I can see them. Pam

Awesome!!!

Yall tell me what you think please... I have a few birds that have a runny nose and seem to kind of sneeze every now and then. The roosters crow is kind of raspy and it seems like he's struggling to crow. I gave them .5 cc of Tylan 50 today and plan on doing that for a few days until they hopefully improve. Is there anything else I should be doing? Thanks

The first thing I would do is separate the sick ones out so it doesn't spread if it is serious. Lots of really bad chicken diseases start with respiratory symptoms. Better safe than lose a bunch from the flock. It's what I do.

I have had standard chickens go broody, but the best seem to be heritage breeds and bantams. The broody I have now is a bantam and its her first time sitting and so far she is doing a great job! My silkies always did fantastic too.

He sure is a light one! Looks like a male to me, though it is a bit tough to tell with his coloring. :) Hope more hatch!

He is light colored. Also seems to be having trouble walking well. Not splayed legs but as if his feet don't cooperate so he can't get his balance. Doesn't stand up for long before tipping. Shuffling when moving around, staying low. Hoping it is from being cramped in the shell and will "find his legs" soon :)

Happy Mardi Gras!
I got one early chick. My son put the egg in the incubator by mistake a day before I set the rest. So I should have lots of chicks tomorrow! Yay!

My chick is alone until the Breese hatch next week. The other ccl eggs I put in the incubator were infertile. The last two I put in look promising tho and I had two that died early. I also have some buff laced polish that are developing well.

Happy Mardi Gras! I hope everyone had a great day! Did anyone have off of work?

Happy Mardi Gras! I was at work with my daughter sending me pics of our hatching chick. It was quiet at work until around 3pm then we could hear the music and noise from the returning runners.
