"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ok, I know this may be coming from left field, here, but here goes..........I'd like to see us have a Chickenstock somewhere up here sometime around Spring. Anybody interested???? We'll need several volunteers to help get it all together, and of course we're gonna need loads of helpers. If we try this, I'd like it to be as well-organized as possible. That would take LOTS of planning, which is why I mention it now. Spring seems like far far away, but if we got some basic ideas floating around, well, we'd have all fall/winter to hash it all out. Most of us I know just have the mixed flocks, and maybe there wouldn't be much in the way of purebreed stocks available, I don't know. But we have to start somewhere. I'm interested in getting into a couple breeds, myself. Maybe 3. I want Silkies, for the kids to show in 4H. I want Blue Plymouth Rocks, cuz I think they're beautiful, and versatile, and the kids can show them, lol. And I want Wyandottes, cuz my first rooster was a Columbian Wyandotte, and I think he was awesome. And very versatile, and the kids can show them, lol.

Anybody interested? I mean REALLY interested---willing to put in time and effort and really make it something good for us? I'm willing if ya'll are.

And let the discussions begin-------

But, I'd be very interested in getting together. I'm looking for a silver laced wyandotte rooster. I have eight beautiful hens but no rooster.

I would love to get something together as well.. The key up here is finding the right location.. in Monroe/West Monroe we have the Monroe Civic center's AG building, and in West Monroe, We have the Ike Hamilton. Now both of those are really big locations, but they have all the hookups for RV's, ect. The downfall for all that is that they will require all sales to have that evil sales tax. What might be better is a location slightly off from any large town. But it does need to be indoors, with facilities, ect. Might be able to have an even at one of the LSU AG center.

Seems like I saw one on Craigslist but don't remember which city in La it was located.

We have a new Ag Center here in central La. if anybody's interested in that location I can check into it & let ya'll know - we live not too far from it.

Thanks for the tip! I found one that was listed on Craigslist Monday by a member of BYC. She is actually in Georgia. I hope to get the rooster from her. We are trying to work out the details.

The Ag Center sounds good to me.
