Good morning everybody! Missi good luck w/your chick; I've had bad hatches where everything goes wrong, too. Sending you hugs!

Hey is there anything in particular I need to do to get ready for the NPIP test tomorrow? I'm going to leave the chickens locked up in the coop, (boy they will not be happy with me) until Danny comes (about mid morning). I'm going to set up a table out there to put them on while he does the bloodwork. I know I don't have anything to worry about but I'm nervous anyway!!!

Thanks Terri! A table is all they need! Just don't wear good clothes cause once he cuts away some feathers and hits that vein when you go to put them down they will flap blood all over you!!

Good luck with everything!!

I'm seriously thinking that we're going to have to cull this chick. It makes no attempt what so ever to get up. It's just laying there flat. I've even tried picking it up and putting it on it's feet and it seems like one of it's feet is just not working! I know this little guy will not be able to eat or drink in the condition that he's in. It's so sad!!

Thanks - actually I'm taking the rest of the day off from work -- I figured I'd need a 2nd shower by the time I got done w/the testing, lol - so after that I'm headed to the nurseries at Forest Hill to buy 2 more rosebushes to put in the back & spending the rest of the day gardening!

I'm so sorry about your chick. I hate it when I have to cull one.

Has anyone gotten chicks from O'Keefe Feed and Seed in Covington? That is where I am planning to buy mine.

I took my neighbor there a few weeks ago and she got 6 chicks,. that were from the "sexed Pullet" bin,.. 3 are roo's!,.she got BR's and EE's. They buy from Ideal hatchery,..
They do seem to be healthy and thriving.

She also bought some "Araucanas" from Marsoland's F&S,.. but they are little EE's too,.. the owner said they were from Mount Healthy.

I'm curious on something!! I know that your not supposed to help the chicks come out and such. Has anyone got to that point and actually did help one?? And what was the circumstances that you felt you needed to help them??

Thanks
