Just awesome. You have some VERY lucky animals out there. I better not let my animals see your setup, they might pack up and head your way.

Beautiful Mike!! I really can't understand why I didn't make mine bigger since I
have plenty of room!! Well, yea I can... Hey, I'm just gonna get a few birds for
fresh eggs!! YEAH right!!

That's why I decided to basically start all over. To build it exactly like I want it and MUCH bigger!!

Here's a pic of my pasture

You see the small oak I circled with yellow?? I'm going to move the fence to my back yard right past that tree and put my new coop & run right beofre it. I guess that's giving me about 200 - 300 more feet. Most people wonder why I've fenced my backyard in instead of leaving it open. I like the security that I have when I let my dogs out. Their fearless (except when it comes to thunder storms!) and have gone after coons, coyotes, etc. Their Yorkies for goodness sake!

By moving it I will able to build probably a 40 ft coop area, 10 ft for each section and make the runs 30 or 40 ft long. I want them to have plenty of room!!

You know I keep hoping I could get my husband intrested in something like that whether it's quail, turkey's or anything really. We've talked about even raising rabbits for meat. Right now he's in the process of trying to trap hogs on some property in Kentwood. He went out there Wednesday night and put the trap out, checked it Thursday night and didn't have anything and their going back up there tonight to check it again!! We'll see I guess!! I see your quail flight pen. I thought quail had to be raised off the ground!! Can you tell me a little more about raising them??

Thanks!!

We brood them in a large brooder battery and breed them in breeder batteries.

Dont have a pic of the brooder on this puter but it is 6 tray set up.
They dont necessarily have to be raised on wire. Thats for protection against worms and parasites. All my ground level pens have sand at least 1 foot deep which does not allow either to survive so theres no issue there. The hardest part is getting them past the first few weeks

I have rabbits and turkey also for meat mostly but some of my turkey are just for purties

Tell your DH to soak some corn in diesel in a 5 gallon bucket for a day or 2 and bait his traps with that. I would almost bet he has better luck

Oh that's cool. SO as long and you have sand deep enough you can raise them on the ground??

Thanks for the tip on the corn, will definetely tell him about it when he calls me later!!

Love that pic!! Looks like 2 little love birds in there!!
