Gotta love those gift cards.

As far as the uncooked rice, I"m not sure. I have fed mine a mixture that included rough rice. My brother told me that he fed his chooks uncooked rice many years ago and they all died.

There was a thread about that. Let me see if I can find it.

Here's a link to one post where someone swears by it.Says the thai's feed only rice lots of uncooked with hulls too...

This is rough rice and this is what I have fed all of my animals for years.

Rough or "paddy" rice is rice that has yet to have the outer covering (rice hull) and bran layers removed. The U.S. Standards for Rice define rough rice as being "rice (oryza sativa l.) which consists of 50 percent or more of paddy kernels of rice."

Oh yes lots of mink and weasels esp around water sources. Minks will usually only bite open the neck and drink the blood. Weasels? I don't really know their signs of predation. Sounds if you had such a horrid evisceration there I'd say it most proly coons, very ruthless, and possibly an owl, too, they will disembowel their prey too and most of the time the head will be missing.

on the feeding of rice I'd say yes on the whole rice(in hull) and you can feed them some uncooked rice I just wouldn't give it to them in heaps though. I used to get whole rice from the rice mill in Mamou on our rice hull runs back in the late eighties it was practically free for the taking esp. spilled or dirty from leaks or over flows in the conveyer belts/augers.

Just like kuntrygirl posted and the proof that it won't kill a bird is by the millions of Red-winged Blackbirds that eat tons of it each year call a rice farmer on that one they wished they all would die, fo sho!

It would be worth it huh??

I emailed them and this is the reply that I received.

Ducks are 6.50 per bird, cleaning gizzards $1.00 per bird, just saving them .25. Thank you.

If I took 50 ducks to them, the minimum they would charge would be $325.00 not including cleaning the giizards and or just saving them.

Looks like I got a lot of processing to do this weekend.

Yea, I emailed him back and said that $6.50 is too much for my wallet but that I understand how long it takes to process, so I understand their prices. This is what he replied back and said.

I understand but it is the going rate for inspected facilities (which we are). It does take about 1 day to process any (kill, scald, pluck, clean, chill tank, bag) and the disposal of all waste. Thank you.

Maybe it's the chickens that are $3.00. I wonder why they don't post their prices for all of the things they process.

To me that's still high BUT since I've never processed a duck before I don't know how much harder it is to do than chickens!! I'm just guessing that if you skin it, it can't be that much harder can it??

ETA: With 50 birds you'd really think they would give you a discount!!
