What a beautiful morning this morning. The weather is sooooo nice outside.
Well, to update everyone on my Llama search.
Who knew that so many people in Louisiana owned Llamas. After posting my ad looking for a Llama, a total of 7 people contacted me and they all had Llamas. I originally was going to Dequincy on Saturday morning to see the Llamas that this 1 guy had but later on that night, I received an email from a guy who lives right in Scott, LA (outskirts of Lafayette) saying that he had 11 Llamas and all of them were for sale. So, I contacted him and asked him if I could go out to his place to see them. He said yes.
Well, we went out to see his Llamas and he had all kinds of animals. He has Llamas, Alpacas, miniature donkeys, and sheep that were as tall as a donkey (no kidding).
Here are a few pics of the Llamas that he had.
Someone in Baton Rouge sent me a few pics of a beautiful female Llama who she just bred but I don't think I'm ready for a Llama with child. That is way above my "knowledge" grade as far as the care of a Pregnant Llama and new born baby.
So, it looks like I have several options. I have a few more things to look into as far as deciding when I will get the Llamas. I have to contact the State Vet that did my NPIP testing and see how a new Llama can be introduced to my flock as far as diseases, etc. I also need to ask him what vets have experience with Llamas. Before I get the Llama, I want to build another pen for it. There is a structure that I saw here on BYC that would be perfect. I would need for it to be about 8 - 10 feet tall, so I have a lot of hustling to do to find free materials. The manager at our
TSC has said that he can order the Llama feed that I will need. I will also need to build a tall feeder for both the feed and hay for the Llama.
So, it looks like I will be getting my Llama !!!!!!
