"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Yea, I know it sounds crazy but that is what keeps me sane. I think, think, think and relax my mind when I run. I'm usually in the chicken yard for about 2 or 3 hours as well and I still have to get out and run. I deal with people and attitudes ALL DAY long. They force me to have to run. If I didn't, then I would be nuttier than a fruit cake at Christmas time. Boy, do I love fruit cakes at Christmas time.

I limit my jogging these days. Years ago, I would run an average of 5 - 6 miles a day and I would average about 40 miles a week. Now, I only jog 4 miles a day. I'm saving up for a cycling bike (cost about a thousand dollars), so I can get out and ride like Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France. Just call me Lana Armstrong in the Tour de Opelousas.

Good grief! I always suspected you were Superwoman; now I KNOW you are for sure!!!!
I used to jog years ago but surgeries on both knees took that option away. I'm not supposed to walk or use my stationary bike until clearance from my cardio Dr hopefully tomorrow.

I can't ride a regular bike; have a set of nice bright teeth in front to testify to that, plus a bridge, 2 root canals & 6 crowns. Very poor sense of balance here! I need an adult tricycle!

Ouch Terri. Even if you get clearance from the doctor, you may want to say away from the stationary bike. It may tip over. :hide

After years of running 6 miles a day, it also affected my knees, so I had to cut back a bit. On the days that my knees are hurting, I just do a brisky 4 mile walk, which is really all anyone needs.

My last batch of turkey poults hatched last night. The turkey hen that set up camp in the sticker bush hatched 8 babies last night. I moved them into a chicken stall. Folks, I think I"m done for the year with hatching poults.

You sound even busier than me! :th WOW!!! And you're doing a garden. :th I had to pass on the garden this year. There is no way possible and can care for a garden this year. I decided to just buy local fruits and veggies from the local farmers instead of growing my own. I want to support their gardening efforts.

Yes, I think we all are MARRIED TO THE FARM!

Yea, but I don't work 'outside' of the home anymore...I just have to manage my website and orders from it so I work with animals/garden during the day and sew all night! It's a miracle when I even get any sleep!
th.gif
Plus 2 of my kids are out of the house so just the two teen boys at home....JUST...but they help...sometimes...hubby built a large greenhouse last winter and this year will be the first year to grow year round veggies so we're pretty excited. I try to grow enough for us and the animals! The more 'natural' food the better!! Saves on feed costs, too!!!

I noticed in your sig that you have TONS of those muscovy ducks!! Oh my...the ducklings we are getting were on a trade, but I hear they are good layers/setters/mamas...hoping that is true!

Oh gosh, please don't say the M.D. word (Muscovy Ducks). I am still having nightmares from last year's "Harvest". It darn near killed me. You are wrong when you said that they are good layers/setters/mamas. They are EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!! :lau Take it from me, I know. The number in my sig is only 1/2 of what I had. At one time, I had nearly over 100 muscovy ducks. It was NOT a good year. I was able to sell a lot and a lot of the males were processed and an Asian guy came over and wanted everything that was for sale, and he got it. :gig I NEVER want to go through that again. That's why I am not letting them hatch any eggs this year. NOTHING. They are sitting on goose eggs this year and they don't know it.

Do you have a pond for them? We have a small one, we are planning on digging it out more this summer when it gets dry, but I was just wondering how you have yours? I didn't know how much they would dirty it up or if it would be good for the fish? I hope we don't have a population explosion like you did, I'm content with 6!! Good to hear they are good setters, I'll be sure to take their eggs and replace them with whatever we need hatching...we don't have an incy right now b'cuz we've had such great luck with our little banthams hatching out our eggs! but we are looking for a small one...

No, I don't have a pond but I wish I did. I have about 7 kiddie pools placed in different locations on my property. I want to have someone build a small one for them. I really want to see the ducks and geese swim. They are happy with the kiddie pool but they could be even happier with the pond. I have to dump out and refill the kiddie pools every day. They dirty up the kiddie pools within minutes.

And yes, when your girls start laying eggs, HURRY UP and take the eggs. But even if they don't have any eggs, they will go broody on anything, including a rock. Well, at least mine do.

I literally busted out laughing when I read that!!! We'll see how they do on this little pond, I'll get a small pool for them until they are big enough for the pond. I told my husband we could see how they did in the tub, it's a big tub...he looked at me like I had LOST MY MIND!! I belive his exact words were..'Ducks...in the tub?? Next thing you know you will have the chickens in the kitchen and rabbits in the closet!!'
lau.gif
I was like, 'we had to bring a baby goat into the bathroom more than once cuz they weren't doing well, what's the difference?' he says...THEY'RE DUCKS!! They'll be fine outside!!! MEN!!!

Oh, hey, if you have any fruit trees, the liquid you dump from their pools is EXCELLENT for fruit trees! I saw your blog page, those recycled things you built were amazing!!! I love the coop and benches!!! AWESOME!!
