Tomorrow looks like a perfect day for starting turkey havesting! I'll be plucking a couple really big toms tomorrow. I think they might be 50 pounds by now. The first of many. I hatched about 20 for the freezer this year, but will be harvesting over a few months, because I hatched thm over several months. What was I thinking?
It's low and slow when cookin' roos. I perfer a slow cooker. Po the old boy in there with salt, pepper, sage, marorim, savory, onion, garlic, an a tiny bit of rosemary(very strong herb) or whatever you lie it roased wih, pour in a couple copes of good homemade chicken stock and forget it for about 6 to 8 hours or even all day. When you open the pot it will be falling off the bone tender. Roosters are really good eats. And we all get them if we raise chickens !!!LOL![]()
