Loving the chick life!

It's worth it! It is still nice to be out with them, but sometimes you have work to do, then, well, there goes that days fun! I do free range my chicks now at eight weeks, lost a few though, in your case that's not an option without the coop

. My australorp hatched chicks today, but she still can keep them near, so best to do is just fix something up, when the rain stops

I can free range them in my back yard since its totally fenced in, but at the same time I'll be keeping an eye on them since I only have two. But yes, a coop is needed, and I already have been talking with my father about where to put it and if I can keep em.

You'll want to keep an eye on them due to aerial predators. I have lost many a chick to those beasts! How small is the fencing holes? Think big on your coop, 10 by 10 by 10, possibly because you'll probably end up with more than two!

The back half is chain link, the front is wood panels. And yeah thankfully I've got a bit of tree cover to help hide them! I'm already thinking about a barred rock, and an easter egg! Maybe a RIR as well

Good, if they're vigorous enough they should bolt for shelter. A rooster is nice to have because he can warn minuets before the enemy strikes! Oh, barred rocks are soo sweet as chicks right up to hen hood! I have do have barred rocks, though, and Rhode Islands, and you've got to be prepared to work with them. They can get a little pecky with you, sometimes attacking too. But that's not totally the rule with them. Easter eggers are very nice hens and do get broody!

I love the BR coloration, and I'm half hoping one of my ayams is a roo.. Those babies would make me a pretty penny. The person I got em from said if they're both Roos, I can get another from her and give a roo back.
