Lowes playhouse 4x4 "My Little Playhouse" Kankakee Illinois $149!

Any one interested, call the Champaign, IL store at 217-373-7300 and ask for Marilyn. She has more in stock as they stock this item regularly. Shipping will be about $79. All in all, $180 is not a bad price for this playhouse/chicken coop. You probly couldnt build it for any less!

I called Lowes Corporate at the toll-free number listed on the Web site.

I explained that I wanted the playhouse, and the local stores were all selling them for $399. A store in my state that was an hour away is selling it for $199. Several people on the chicken forums are getting them from stores that will honor price matching. My stores will not. (Not fair!!)

The Web site says on all pages "Pricing for contiguous United States." Under their pricing policy page, it says they make every effort to mitigate price differences across stores. I explained all of this to the customer service rep. She took my name, number and address.

Within 45 minutes, I had a call from my local store, saying it was authorized to sell me the playhouse for $149.00.

Good luck!

If you look under champaigne, IL, they are selling it for $99 - by rights, you should get it for that, if you feel like argueing again. Good job getting the price lowered!!

She shoots - she SCORES!! My DH and I printed out the ad from Champaign, IL that said the playhouses were $99, took it to our local Lowe's, and they honored the price! So we now have a 4x8x6 coop for only $200! I can't tell you how tickled we are. If anyone wants to try this that lives in my area, they have them at the Denver and Hickory stores. I know for a fact that there are 3 left at the Denver Store. We had already laid the floor, so we're in serious business now!

I just contacted the Lowes main office and got the info for the company that makes the playhouse.

And I sent them the following email:

Hello there!

My name is Lisa, and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. I have a small backyard flock of nine laying hens. In many areas, even within the city limits, chickens ARE allowed by zoning. Many, many people are beginning to know the joy of keeping chickens, and enjoying the fresh eggs, even in cities!

My email is to advise you that you have the perfect product to take advantage of this chicken boom. Your item #263210, "My Very Own Playhouse," is almost perfect for use as a backyard henhouse. It's compact, cute, sturdy, and reasonably-priced.

It only needs a few minor adjustments to be used as a henhouse. A couple of roosting perches need to be added, perhaps another window on the side, and the windows must be enclosed with screens in the good weather, plexi in the bad weather, and a floor.

So my suggestion is that you either make the adjustments and start selling the Playhouse as the Urban Henhouse, or offer a "Henhouse Modification kit", to be purchased with the Playhouse.

Or you could just start from scratch and design a henhouse! My point is that there are very VERY few pre-fab henhouses available right now, and the way the backyard chicken frenzy is taking off, you would stand to make a good profit if you offer a henhouse for sale.

And I gave them my phone number. :)

Just go to lowes.com and change "my store" to Champaign IL, and then search play house. It should come right up for you. Mine still hasn't shipped out... it's estimated delivery is 1-2 weeks... because the store in ID didn't want to price match on the phone. So I sure hope the thing can make the 2100 mile trip in one piece...
