Ludwig is a gentle giant -- over knee high on my 6-foot son -- who is good with his ladies, gentle with chicks, and has never given me any anxiety when working in the coop and run. He even gets on well with the 8-month-old Blue Australorp cockerel.

Simply much too nice a rooster to end up in the crockpot just because I've fallen in love with Blue Australorps and don't want to hatch any more mixed-breed chicks.

He's got the proper, Langshan U-shaped body:

I do not make cuddle-pets out of any of my chickens, especially males, so you can't expect him to want hugs and snuggles, but I can handle him on the roost at night to check his feet, etc.
