Mabel's Broody Adventure ENDS

How's Mable doing this morning?

Hi Kittymomma thanks for asking

We fired up the incubator last night put 8 of the 14 eggs inside. They are stable at 99.5-100

Mabel I think is more comfortable. I took her off the nest and put her downstairs by the coop on the grass (all the other girls were locked in the coop) She poo'd and then she kept wanting to go into the coop, so i put her at the farthest part of the lawn and she kept walking over to the coop, still very unsteady and wing drooping but seams to be able to put more weight on her left leg. I've been advised to leave her alone, but this girl will not get off the nest, I know it, so the exercise I think is imperative. When I put her back inside "the beach house" (swimming pool-BTW I put dirt/soot/sand mixture on bottom so she won't slip) she went right over to the eggs sat down, tucked them all under her and fell asleep. This little broody will not break, she's too determined!

Oh and gave her a 1000 vit E and 50 MCG of selenium, hope that helps with her nerve thing.

What do you think?

I think your mamma Mable is lucky to have such a good chickie mom. Hopefully now that she's not trying to spread herself so thin and has better footing in her pool she'll start showing improvement soon. I can't think of anything else to do for her that you haven't already done.

Thanks kittymomma, she's my absolute love, she's more important than any eggs around.

She gobbled up some warm moist pellets this am

My apologies I missed the Microgram...Glad to read she's doing soo so much better. Best of all wishes and prayers go for a blessed hatch!

I updated the thread to Mabel's Broody adventure and then some...it fits the trial and tribulations we've had.

End of Day 5 - Tuesday

Mabel is doing better, she walked a bit today on the lawn and even tried to get into her old nest box...When we came in she immediately got on her 6 eggs. Ate some scrambled eggs and warm pellets but not much else.

Incubator...hovering around 99.5 - 99.9. Humidity at 48% wow that egg-turner is a miracle thing!

Thanks for hanging in there my broody coaches, tomorrow is, I'm sure another saga in the adventure....
