Mabel's Broody Adventure ENDS

We're saying the same thing, just get her up off the eggs and away from them, let her get her balance and walk around a bit and she should poop. Hold your nose, trust me! You do not want that poop ON the eggs.

I don't think it matters as long as she's away from the eggs and walks around enough so that she poos. If she hasn't eleminated in 5 days she can do herself some damage, plus I would bet that is why (other then gen. broodiness) she's not interested in eating. Food is not going to be appealing if she's all backed up.

I type to slow.

Don't worry about her digesting, just get her off the nest for a little bit and see if she'll poo. Like Cynthia said, it's gonna STINK especially if it's been 5 days so be ready--a resperator might not be a bad idea.

My broody is on day 18 now and the only thing she is eating is scrambled turkey egg w/oatmeal mixed in...

I agree do definitely get her up and out away from her eggs for a little bit of time. My broody mostly eats from my hand, but it's building a good relationship between us and this way I know for sure she is at least eating. Maybe just feeding some nutritious food from your hand and she'll be happy

She hasn't even touched the chick starter I put in there, or her regular feed.

Good luck!!

OK you guys are officially my best friends for life

The instant I put her down on the lawn she let out the most enormous (bigger than my labradors) poo, stinky ha ha yes in fact I can still smell it even though I gave her a butt bath and all, I think some must be stuck in my scent brain cells, either that or it's on shirt! lol

So I love you guys...was just incredibly weak even after the poo it took her 40 minutes to get her sea legs...even still she not completely strong and in fact one wing seems slightly weaker, but I'm confident if I baby her with nutritious food she'll get better. I was sterring away from fruit/seeds/scrambled eggs because I was told she will be fine just give her the normal feed. But I guess my baby is headstrong and doesn't want to leave her maybe-babies!

I'll take her down to the lawn every day from now on. You guys saved my Mabels love xoxo

I'm so happy! I've been refreshing this thread for the last 30 minutes hoping to read that she did the deed.

I'm sure with some scrambled eggs and other good treats along with a daily consitutional she'll do just fine. Nothing like kids and critters to get otherwise rational adults obsessed over poo.
