Mabel's Broody Adventure ENDS

It's possible, but doesn't really seem likely unless she freaked out at some point during the move and I'm pretty sure you would have mentioned that. For right now take a deep breath. Does she seem to have any other problems? Is she eating her scrambled eggs and other special treats when you bring them to her? If everything else is going ok I think you can take a little time with this. You generally want to leave a broody alone for the most part, but as determined as she seems to be I don't think it would hurt anything to start taking her off the nest so she can walk around for a few minutes twice a day instead of only once. I does sound like she's putting pressure on a nerve or something while she's flattend over the nest, but I just don't know for sure.

You might try finding your community in the where am I, where are you section if you haven't all ready and see if anyone in your area has a bator you can borrow or maybe rent, an ad on cl could work too.

Okay, what sort of footing does she have on the bottom of that swimming pool.....I know NOW I'm asking....could she have gotten up to stretch and kinda slid a bit? I know you've got the chips, but now I'm asking myself.....mmmm,,,,I know that plastic can be slippery.

I wonder if she needs more stable footing on this setup....

Don't go and do a thing until others say something here......

I sure wouldn't move her set up at this point in the brooding........If it were me, What I might consider is gently moving her chips and putting down a layer of sand she could stand on our even potting soil,,,and then the chips on top of that, something firm for her if she decides to walk out of the box when you don't see her. I know you haven't seen her get up, but it's possible she did when you're weren't there unless she's on camera...smile.

Now, please wait Cheryll to see what others are saying.....

good idea about the bator...that will be a whole new lesson I have to learn! never did that either

NO I put some scrambled eggs in front of her this am and she's not eating them or the sunflower seeds. That's why I took her outside because I thought she may have been "clogged up" again, but she only did a medium size poop, still not eating
my poor baby

It is very possible and in fact I wondered the same, I was thinking of some soil/sand/soot combo would be the best. It is very possible she slipped..if so now

what about alos Selenium I had given a chicken with twisted neck a vitamin E tablet and selenium - as recommended by Dragonflies and Dandelions for nerve problems.
50 MICROgrams per tab as selenium crushed into water and used an eyedropper

while I have had her off her nest I felt some of the eggs and weren't very warm, are they supposed to be?

Hey Cheryl, I just sent you a note that you can borrow our incubator if you want. We just finished our duckling hatch. Heck, kill two birds with one visit and you can pick up the incubator and see the duckling!
