Its warmed up this week, 5 celcius (41F) in mornings getting to average of 18 celcius (64F) Last week was -2 (28 F) average morning to a top of 12 celcius (53F). Which, for where we are inland Aust is way colder then average

Phew, that is cold! I am in the US so it is summer, and it has been in the mid 90s here!

Got this nice pic of Unas today. She and her sister are the first ducklings I hatched 2 years ago, and they're really tame and wonderful.

Great thread. I want to get some Muskovies but it’s gonna have to wait until next spring. I’m kinda maxed out on new birds already... Clair, thanks for posting this topic! I’ve really enjoyed it so far. I’m almost straight south of you, in SD, 20 miles north of Rapid City. So cool to come across someone nearby (well, near according to Dakotas standards. :lau) Looking forward to following all ya’ll’s duckling adventures.

A quick question... at what age do you typically butcher your meat ducks? Do any of you intentionally produce Mulards? And if so, do you like them? (Okay, 3 questions...)

Thanks again! This is just what I was looking for.

Thank you for joining us here at the Magnificent Marvelous Muscovies thread! We're so glad to have you here! That's so cool you are "nearby" according to Dakota standards! :)

Looking forward to seeing pics of your Muscovies if you end up getting some next year! :)

I usually butcher my Muscovies at 15 weeks old. I find that they are nice and tender and are a pretty good size at that age.

The only breed of ducks I currently have are Muscovies and I have never had or eaten any Mulard ducks.
