Whispers to Crystal Creek I thought Hurley was getting the ugly ones and I was getting the cute ones. Don't worry it will be our secret, I won't tell Hurley!

Thanks! I may not try it this hatch, we'll see what I have collected by Saturday and if it comes down to a tough choice I may try to perch a couple on top. (Although my DH thinks 48 is more than enough! You should have seen the look on his face when I told him I was expecting some Lavender Ameraucana eggs in the mail! Purple eggs????)

I want purple eggs! LOL

I have B/B/S AM eggs coming. Can't wait to get more blues. Hey and the blues DO lay blue eggs.

maybe you should dye the eggs and then show him

Oh excellent idea!

I love my little silver cockerel. His name is Sterling.
I have Blues just starting up and my Lavs are babies, so since it took April's hatch 10 MONTHS to start laying I guess maybe they'll start before Christmas. LOL
Have more silver and lavender coming next month. Went in on a big order of day olds. I think I ordered 4 of each. Have to go back and check.
I love blue eggs. Was fun to get my first green one yesterday though.
Today so far I have another FBCM and a Game egg. Silly game climbed into the bag of shavings and laid in the bag. Two nest boxes sitting right there. I opened it up and asked what she was doing and she just kept scratching, so I let her be. Five minutes later I was digging an egg out of the bag. Guess the boxes weren't as cushy.

I have an EE that laid every day in the garbage can, no matter what was in it. She was insistant to the point she would knock it over if it had a lid on it. I finally gave up and made sure there was always a feed sack or something on top so the egg wouldn't fall down. I don't think she's laying yet this spring, but I hope she'll start up with better habbits:/

I keep looking at auctions with Araucanas/Americanas/Americaunas - easter eggers. I am sooo confused. Some say blue and green eggs per Americana regulations. Some say an occasional tan. One auction (my personal fave) showed a comparison of gorgeous blue eggs and the eggs you might buy elsewhere.
I fell head over heels for those blue eggs. I am not sure how to go about bidding since I don't seem to understand the differences between Americanas et al.
(Sorry Mahonri but since we are passing time waiting to set eggs and this really does pertain as I am searching for what it is exactly I am going to set

I know some of you on this thread are experts....anyone?

Like I said you like to torture me. Not only are your chicks adorable but you really take wonderful pictures of them. Do you have an assistant who helps you prep the chicks for the photo shoot so not a piece of fluff is out of place?

I was watching Family Feud yesterday, and the question was, "What can a woman never have too many of?" I have to admit I shouted out "Chickens!" I don't remember if it was "100 people" surveyed or "100 women" surveyed, but I know my answer would have made the board if it had been "100 BYC members" surveyed!
