Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Don't you have that Caliche layer to deal with? I remember 'working' with Mom and Dad landscaping in Arizona and the crazy nonsense they'd have to deal with when digging, sometimes.

Here we have clay, sandstone, sandy soil, rich soil...you never know what you'll hit until you start digging. I'd never be able to do an underground coop, though, as we're the low spot for a large area and we're underwater when it rains hard (which is fairly regular in spring and fall) and dry as a bone in the 100*+ summer. They'd mostly drown, and survivors would be very comfy in the heat...perhaps a sump pump...

Here is my flapper entry

(waving hand in the air frantically like Horshak) I got one for word trivia:
lithophysae
Used in a sentance: I got many lithophysae for my birthday from my daughter.
Chicken lovers will love these things. Look them up!

Holy cow! That's the cutest ever. You could enter just that one picture in the flapper, cutest chick, and funniest picture!

I thought the cutest had to be NEW chicks?? Like ones born from this hatch specifically... That chick was born last year...
