Did our taxes yesterday and the news was not so good. Hard to believe that with all of the money the government took from DH and I we still owe. I am going to have to put more of my salary into my 401K. I think I should be able to keep more of my money.

I am going to candle the turkey eggs this morning and maybe CC's eggs since you all are candling early!

Yes... I'm still awake unless I'm sleep typing............... You never know.

I've got the bathroom window open in the master bath and I can hear the rain outside and that is usually very calming, don't know why I can't get some shut eye.

I so want to candle the last 40 eggs but I'll wait till Tuesday when it's past day 10.

I am PRAYING that those BR, NHs and SLW from Kathy make it.

I should have a good showing of Icelandics... I'm hoping for at least 20 of the 62 eggs I set.

I've been trying to resist candling CC's eggs until Tuesday as well but since I am going to candle the turkey eggs I figure I might as well candle all of them. I only have 30 to candle so I figure it won't take too long. If there are any I am not sure of they will just go back into the bator. I wish I could have slept in longer but since I fell asleep so early last night I am up at my usual time. I just checked the weather and we have a 90% chance of snow here today. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I have it on good authority that the weather does get nice in Utah on July 3rd and August 22nd. I have those days marked on my calendar to do something.

Finished candling the eggs. Yeah I gave in to the pressure

and did all of them. All six of the turkey eggs are still moving along (really surprised at that since they were shipped eggs and I figured that I would have a couple not develop - great eggs from lotsapaints!) I only had to pull three of CC's eggs. Two blood rings and one clear. I was really happy to see that my lone egg from my girls is also developing. I think it is a splash AM X with a BWA roo. I am sure that this one will be a roo! So as of right now I still have three eggs stacked. I might have to think about getting an LG for hatching if things keep going this way. I am not complaining, in fact it is nice to see that I might be working out some of the bugs in my incubating techniques.

1. Best Hatch Rate Contest: CONTEST CLOSED
For this contest during this hatch, participants will be hatching a minimum of 20 eggs. Post how many you will have cooking by Monday 04 April 2011 and then don't go back and edit your post where you tell us how many eggs you start with. When the hatch is over, you'll take a pic and post it to show us how many you actually got... it would be nice if we could count them.
In the event of a tie, the one who hatches the most chicks wins.

2. Cutest Chick Picture:
Picture must be a chick born for this Easter hatch. Pic will need to be taken and posted by or before 11:59PM EST on April 26th... We'll be asking folks in the hatch as well as some moderators to help me judge if they are willing. There will be 1st and 2nd place awards given
Prizes: First and second place receive 6 month GFM sponsored by BYC/Nifty!

3. Guess for # of chicks Mahonri hatches: CONTEST CLOSED
Guesses need to be made before 11:59:59PM EST on April 6th. The guesses will be posted on post 1 somewhere beside the hatch participant's name.
In order to help break a tie, you'll also need to guess the breeds of the first three chicks out. If you want to know what breeds are in Mahonri's bator read the thread!

Contest pictures suggestion

Could everyone label their pics with the breed of the chick, chicken, turkey, duck, what-have-you? I think this would be great for those of us that don't readily recognize some breeds to become more knowledgable.
