I thought you were joking too. Calling it a burn is the same as the wink or JK.

So Steve - Whatcha hatchin' out of those? Golf balls?

Actually, I just now hatched a late lunch of hardboiled eggs from them.

So, as I sit here in the Out Patient waiting room, I am ruminating upon the best possible method of talking my friend into keeping about 3 chickens. I can totally outfit her with everything, spare coop kit, feeders, waterers, and pullets (DUH). She has an unused dog run in her fenced back yard!!!! Her dog, Maggie, when visiting me, is very cool around my flock. Totally calm, walks through a chicken cluster like it's perfectly normal to do so, even on her first visit. Maggie is a house dog, only goes outside for elimination and the occasional bask in the sun.

I have plenty of hardware cloth to secure that unused dog run.

I think it would be perfect addition to my friend's sedentary by choice life. She has scleroderma, is medically retired, on disability, and hermits herself because of the coughing from pulmonary fibrosis. She COULD wear a mask for coop cleaning, and I think 3 hens would be plenty, because of that... I'd set her up for DLM so there would be less coop clean out efforts.

On this trip, I brought her 3 dozen eggs and a dozen for her next door neighbor (who happens to be the people who gave up Red, the GLW they thought was a RIR and was in horrible shape).

She could gather her own eggs, get off her butt twice a day and do more than let Maggie out to do her business, and maybe get some joy in her life from having chickens.

...You can tell I love her, can't you??? What does everyone think?

I think the best way is to give her wine to swallow the pain meds; then bring the subject up about a half houe later.

Linda, that sounds like a fabulous idea.

I love to help others have chickens and see how easy it is to have some.

I think I wish I had a friend like you. I keep trying to give people chickens too...because I think they would enjoy them, not because I am trying to get rid of chickens.
