OK Kayla is still up and waiting for me to go lay down with her, but I have a problem.

My humidity is high. Chicks aren't drying. Eggs too wet, but I still have had to help two shrink wrapped chicks out.

Why would they be getting stuck? Will too much humidity do that?

According to the little primer that kathyinmo linked to, both too much and too little can lead to sticky chicks.

I'm to the point I'm going to do like Renee, keep it dry for days 1-18 and then fog it up for confinement and whatever happens, happens.

Amen to that, but my Genesis wasn't holding temp ....I think I'll have to order a new heater/fan etc... from GQF

I have 2 chicks in the incubator with several pipped but not quite half. One is upside down. The broody hen has at least 3 so far. She got a head start. Last time I was out there visiting I would peep and cheep at the broody and then one of the babies would poke its head out and look at me, then go back under mama. Then I kept peeping and cheeping and the baby kept peeking at me. It was cute

What color was the OE that layed the dark brown eggs? The second chick out of those eggs is drying either light blue or lavender. [I second guessed myself and wrongly decided it was just slime and membrane covering a black chick]

edit Actually the first chick, the other was out of a Marans egg.
