He'll find the note I left hangin' on his door.

So... baby under Alfred. Will he take her out of the nest box to teach her to eat? or do I have to do that? I already taught her hatchmates to eat and drink, but I don't know how to get food to Lola without taking her away.

If she believes it's her chick she will take the chick out and make noises so the chick knows to eat.

I usually take them out of a nest and put them in a separate box and then put food and water in there.

A broody usually doesnt get off the nest until all the eggs are hatched. (at least she shouldnt) You could sprinkle some food in the nest so it could eat. I do that sometimes.

I am going into the incubator! THere are so many chicks in there that there is no more room! I will post with a so far number when I get them out.

Either will do, actually although I prefer 22% protein crumbles. If it's Momma food she will put some pellets in her beak and break them up and throw them on the ground for the kiddos. I like to use a small dish, put food on it then a bit of hot water to make a mash. Remember chicks don't need to eat for 2-3 days after hatching so you might not see a flurry of activity with the food.

I am just entering day 20 here (at noon today), so I do expect some pips this evening.

Well I'm still hatching.. I lost a bunch of eggs due to various reasons, but mostly due to bad bad shipping. I set ducks and chicks, Of my 5 serama eggs, 2 hatched. My ducks are currently hatching I have 3 mallards, 3 khaki campbells, and 1 golden layer out. But those are still working. My big set of chicks go in to lockdown tonight.
