With all the rain we have had her for the last couple of months, I have had quite a few dirty eggs. I wash them under running water somewhere in the 100 degree range and use a kitchen sponge/scratcher.
I read in Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens to use 100 degree water so that it would not pull contaminates to the inside of the egg.
I have run small samples of clean, dirty, washed, fresh, old, and ones that have been in the fridge, they seem to be so tough that nothing affects them.
Here is to 12,000 eggs set for easter. Still not sure how many I can get into my GQF since I already have 219 in there but I have 20 empty spots. I some candling to do so I mays have some more room in there. I would hate to have to use one of the LGs, BUT I WILL IF I HAVE TO.
I may have to start them in the LG and move them to the GQF on the 4th when one tray gets moved for lock down.
Hey I just thought of something. Since I dont use the GQF for lockdown maybe I can put 2 of my LG turners in the bottom of the GQF and that way they can be in the good one from set time.
Happy Hatching Everyone
