Thanks to all who have prayed for Mike. His surgery is on April 21st, but they will be doing a cath the day before. They are estimating a 10 day recovery period, meaning we'll be home somewhere around the first of May. If all goes well.
Mike was born, in Vietnam, with a series of heart defects. (Tetralogy of Fallot complicated by pulmonary atresia.) We had it corrected at Mayo when we brought him home. He did great until he developed a systemic infection in 2006, that settled in the gortex patchwork (from his correction) in his heart and nearly died. He was life flighted to San Antonio from NM, and spent 2 months in the hospital. I was with him and the rest of the family was here in NM. It was hard.
At his last check up they discovered that his aorta was seriously enlarged and this surgery is to reduce the aortic root and stabilize it. If he needs a homo-graft replacement or anything else, they will take care of it then. Mike is handling the whole thing very well.
(Mama, however, is a bit of a wreck.)
Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart.
