Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

You should hear his velociraptor growl. It IS lion-esque, now that I think about it.

Some leave them in, and they will eventually fluff up. I move them into a new incubator with no water (humidity) to recover. If you reach in real quick and grab them, it should be okay. With humidity that high, I think you are safe to open it quickly for a short time.

If you do not have another incubator to use as a recovery room, I would advise against taking out really wet chicks.

No, I cancelled my flight because, as of the official start of Day 21 at 1200 hours, I have one Barred Rock hatched that is cuter than all yours combined!

It made such a difference.

Thanks, also, to everyone on the thread and on BYC. There is such a wealth of knowledge, information, passion, and compassion here.

He want to be a badace, but I can tell deep down he wants a snuggle. I got him at ~7 months, from a non-snuggling chicken breeder. He came in, saw what he was missing, but didn't know how to ask.

By the time he had his ladies, he was too cool for school. But you can see he wants the love.

--Actually he is pretty nice. I have never had issues handling him, but I dont carry him around like I do the other roos. It would hurt his pride.

Ok my hatch is sorta done, just waiting on 3 chicks to get out of their half shells. I have 3 chicks on the half shell and 4 wet chicks still in the incubator.

Here is my bunch:

5 wheaten marans in the brooder
5 black copper marans in the brooder
1 wheaten marans on the half shell in bator
1 black copper marans on the half shell in the bator
5 isa brown/Jersey Giants in the bator drying off

3 eggs that did nothing I cracked open and found 3 fully formed dead in the shell.

But all in all I am very please with my hatch. I locked down 20 eggs and I have 17 live chicks!!

And I was SO looking forward to meeting you.

So, the neighbors came and they own a FBCM, 2EEs, 1BWA and 8 varied Icelandics. They've promised to join BYC and check in with us on the Icelandic thread. Their daughter and her boyfriend were so excited when they came to pick up the chicks. I warned them that at least 6 could be roos!

And Laree had left just an hour earlier after giving them all Mareks vaccinations.

The neighbor girl told me she would post pics of them in their new brooder on FB when she got home.
