OK, I have a total of 10 mutt eggs in the bator (added two this AM, the eggs were still warm coming out of one oven and into the other, lol). I am a little embarass about my number of eggs comparing to the people here on this thread, but in my chicken "farm" I have only 2 hens and 2 roosters. I live in the city and not even supposed to have roosters, but I have nice neighbors who so far haven't turn me in. So I am considered blessed being able to join you guys for this wonderful event. Well, well well .. I had a silkie hen go broodie yesterday .. She is sitting on 6 Salmon Fav X eggs (hers and the EEs) .. as I was figuring up the due date, I laughed and thought:

"Hey .. now I have a REASON to follow Mahonri's New Years Hatching Thread .."

Don't know and don't care if I qualify for anything in this thread .. I just thought it was funny that her timing was so .. well, stupid, actually ... (who wants to sit on eggs in the dead of winter??).. but it all works out, huh??

122 participants, 2,103 eggs set and we've got a third that still haven't checked in yet!

Also, if you've just joined the hatch you can still guess how many chicks I'll hatch with the first three breeds out of my bators. You also don't have to be in the hatch to enter that contest.

I let Mahonri know my GD put my eggs in the bator because I had to go watch my GS wrestle. She dropped an egg and was crying from noon until I came home around 6:30pm. She thought she had to take a pic of the clock and she forgot that after she dropped the egg. I had to explain it was only an egg and I still have 40 more of them. I felt so bad for her, if she could have called me on my cell phone she would have know not to worry but she couldn't get me in the building I was in. I don't think she will offer to do that again for me. She has been here before watching chicks hatch and I think she thought she killed a baby.
