Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

One little Icelandic was larger, and looks like a Delaware! Honestly, I do not know which one it is!

I will know in a few days though. Crazy, crazy!

I only have one silkie laying ... a black girl, and a splash roo, so I get all blue babies right now.

What am I gonna do with all these chickens .... I keep asking myself....

I never ask myself that. I ask KEN. And then he builds more. The only positive side to losing so many birds at once is that I can keep the bator going for a while. After the ducks I need at least 8 more HENS to make up for the loss. Which means at least two hatches... Chicken math and all.

Well, come on over to my house and get some then!

Ok, lemme see. California to MO, silkies, gas money.... pretty simple - southern states, not bad weather....silkies, hmmmm, drive straight through. Yep I will be there in February!!!!

I love him. I super-love the chest-thumping noise they make when the kids are fighting. He has a special, "STOP FIGHTING!" gobble.

I do wish the lady turkeys would give him some love. He gets all worked up and.... try explaining that dance to the neighbor kids.

That last is especially good ; it appears to capture him in either prayer , humble awe , or both .

I love that beautiful turkey! I have never had a turkey.

I had two - Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving grew to 80 lbs before he died, and Christmas was 60 when she went. We did not know they were meat bird when we bought the poults, and danged Ken could bring himself to process them. So no more meat birds for us!!!!
