Ooh, I love a good contest. Must we all set our clocks to Zulu time? If I weren't such a e-diot I could change the date/time stamp on my camera to read 01/01/2011 00:01 hrs. But alas, I am an idiot so I'll just have to play by the rules.

Hi! I set 3 doz yesterday and started saving eggs for the New Year's hatch today --- YAAAY!
Got a start! 2 white Silkie eggs, a Serama egg, a blue/splash silkie-feathered green-egger egg, and duck eggs --- one each from the Pekin, Ancona, and blue Swedish. If I set the duck eggs the 4th they should hatch the 1st (??).

Im not sure what Im setting yet. Im shipping out all my eggs Im getting from now until Sunday. I am getting a new Marans egg this week; Im not sure who's laying it, maybe one of my blues. Shes out with my wheaten Marans roo, so that could be interesting, if even fertile. Ill keep collecting them, and hopefully will have a good bunch to set on the 11th. Id like to have my first all Marans hatch of my own birds. I have some sex link Marans (wheaten marans roo over cuckoo hens) that Im growing out, but I think these new eggs are from different hens. Anyhoo, thats what Ill have....maybe Ill sneak an olive egger or two in there; that sounds interesting, huh.

Geese louise, you all have given me the hatching bug! I don't know how I ran across this thread in the process of researching breeds for my new additions, but now I have a HUGE hankering for an incubator! There is still time, there is still time...

How are you guys getting eggs for this? There's not much on the hatching eggs for sale section of this site.


I do have a rooster and I'm getting about 2 dozen eggs a day but I kinda wanted my first hatch to be something unique.

Did you just post a "wanted" ad? I know very few people on here.

And yes, I've come over to the dark side... I was going to wait until spring to attempt hatching, but darn this thread put evil ideas in my head that would not be contained.

I should have known when I set up my incubator the day I got it in early November and it hasn't left my kitchen table since...
