Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

dsqard: I think both of us had brinseas that were a tad low for temp.

I didn't use my spot check as much with the brinsea because I trusted it... I shouldn't have
I finally upped it to 100 and thats when the last few started pipping and zipping.

BTW, I just checked you out on the google map and you put yourself in Goshen canyon. It made me chuckle... I've driven that a time or two on the way to Nephi, "the back way", just north and east of there is my land.

Yes we are fighting it as well, going to go to the dr again Monday, for ear infections and coughs, not fun. My boys (3) both have it. Hope you little one gets better soon.

I'm not even experienced at hatching chickens , but I remember others in this area talk about needing to spritz the duck and goose eggs daily , and our spring/summer humidity is often pretty high here .

I always spritz the duck and goose eggs. I've had good hatches with this. It also helps to put a dish of warm water in the incubator just before lockdown, if you have room that is.

I did this with the one duck egg we hatched. Only had one duck egg and it hatched fine - misted daily sometimes several times a day.

What is this thing you call getting rid of chicks? Never heard of it!

Huh? One gets rid of chicks? No, really? How odd. That happens?

Pssssst. Dsqard, I think we need to investigate why poor superchemicalgirl has developed such an odd belief.

Still have three strong chicks (1 FBCM, 2 BO) and 1 FBCM that I helped get out, that has a strong mind but one of it's leg is turned in and straight back. It can not stand, much less walk, so it is not looking good. I had 1 FBCM die after 3/4 zipping, and no other pips, squeeks, or rolls, from the remaining eggs.
I will keep them in the bator through tomorrow, and then clean it out and get ready for round two in a couple weeks.

Although I did not come any where close to my target of 40% hatch, we did get a few chicks, learned a few things and had a lot of fun. Thank you all for fun, and I am looking forward to the Easter Hatch.

I have three now not sure if my BA/DC is going to make it, its very weak but I did wake up and I heard three peeps

Yeah, sucks. I think I wouldn't feel so bad if I hadn't seen everyone with so much success. Silly, but I feel as left out as I did as a high schooler! Man! What a lousy self-esteem going on here, huh?!

So how many of us are in the 0% category now? I know a few fortunate ones have climbed up several rungs
